Pre-Project
This upcoming week will be the start of my final work at Hawken. Although this sounds sad, I'm incredibly excited to start working on my senior project. Scott and I will be in a hands-on-learning emersion to understand exactly how to put on a large scale sporting event. For the past 4 years, Scott and I have traveled to Akron to watch the Bridgestone Invitational and support our favorite players. However, we were/are unaware of what is needed to make the tournament a success. This desire of knowledge led us to this senior project proposal.
As of now, I go to large-scale sporting events, without appreciating the amount of effort and time that is required to make these events successful. When I finish this project I hope to maintain a better understanding of how to put on events such as this (marketing, fees, how to contact players, utilities, etc.) and how much work is actually required for a national tournament.
Essential Questions:
How does Firestone differentiate itself from other courses, and what makes it such a great a place to hold the Bridgestone Invitational?
How does Mr. Carter ensure the tournament is held at Firestone?
When and how does the course start being enhanced for tournament conditions?
